Laura Rae Venditti, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
“The client centered approach aims to foster authenticity in the client therapist relationship, whereby the therapist accepts that the client is their best expert. Honing in on this, the therapist works with the client providing support, empathy, and reflective listening. In keeping with the basis of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, the collaborative effort of the therapist and client will find them on a path to alter the client's long held and distorted beliefs about themselves, others, and the world. In this way, the client may learn to see things a little differently, and act upon, and from, their new beliefs, in hopes of a better outcome.”
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). I obtained my B.A. in Psychology from Saint Xavier University, where I minored in Pastoral Ministry. I obtained my M.A. in Gerontological Counseling from Adler University, formerly Adler School of Professional Psychology. In nearly seven years, I have serviced clients from 5 years through 90 years in academic, clinical, and nursing home settings. I assist clients in discerning choices that may render them relief from their afflictions. I help my clients identify obstacles and explore solutions. By approaching therapy from within a client-centered model, and using the tenets of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), in a goal-oriented climate, I help my clients navigate their life journey. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, where I especially find joy in time spent with my grandchildren. I also take advantage of the benefits of exercise and its contribution to attaining balance and minimizing stress. I enjoy city life, allowing me to walk, run, or bike most anywhere I need to go. In addition, a favorite pastime is baseball, where some on my summer is present attending White Sox games.
